Wednesday 31st July 2019: Knight of Pentacles

Today must be the hottest day of the year so far. Yet, it is a busy day of work for me and many others. Like the Knight of Pentacles, I must arm myself for the day and march out irrespective of the fiery firmament. Part of the Knight of Pentacle’s duties is to watch over the land entrusted to him, to survey that over which he has dominion; we too need to take stock as we prepare to bid farewell to July and the end of the summer term. This has been a productive teaching season, but other fields have been left fallow. During the high summer I hope to dedicate more time to cultivating those fields too.
