8th Sunday After Trinity (8) Justice

The eighth arcana of the traditional Tarot is (8) Justice, which is the operation of “never-failing providence” which “ordereth all things both in heaven and earth” as the collect for this week puts it. It is that same law of universal (8) Justice that links the fruit to the tree and which sees to it that every corrupt tree shall eventually be hewn down and cast into the fire. May we therefore be given those things that be truly profitable for us, as for example, the grace to know what is good to do, and the strength and the will to do the same, employing just weights and balances in our dealings with the world.

The Collect

O God, whose never-failing providence ordereth all things both in heaven and earth: We humbly beseech thee to put away from us all hurtful things, and to give us those things which be profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
