The Knight (fire) of Pentacles (earth) is fiery in protection of his territory, whether that be his family, his people, his property, his financial assets, his dignity or his person. He nicely compliments the 6 of Cups that we saw on Saint George’s Day where Saint George protects the gardeners. I made a reference on that day to the play Othello, and again, by way of contrast, I am reminded of that play for the Knight of Pentacles is truly a man “not easily moved,” but being perplexed, will not run to the extremes of Othello, but instead, will remain well-grounded; fierce in defence of his own against intrusion, but otherwise stolid and stable.
