Sunday After Ascension Day 2019

The arcana for this week is the (18) Moon, which marks the uncertain time between Ascension Day and Pentecost, a time in which the manifestation of the Holy Spirit is anticipated. We are, as it were, between the (17) Star of the Magi and the direct solar light of the Pentecostal (19) Sun. Moreover, in his book The Planets Within Thomas Moore explains that Luna operates as a bridge between the personal and the archetypal:

From our personal perspective our Luna within is sensed as that consciousness of suprapersonal or unconscious realities which play a role in life but which are not conscious creations; therefore Luna seems “uranian” or celestial, though close to earth. From an archetypal viewpoint, the connections between archetypal possibilities and personal experience seem so uniquely individual that lunar consciousness itself appears personal – tellurian. In any case, this lunar activity by which collective fantasies are made personal is a downward movement, a tendency toward the concrete and the individual.

The Collect

O God the King of glory, who hast exalted thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto thy kingdom in heaven; We beseech thee, leave us not comfortless; but send to us thine Holy Ghost to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place whither our Saviour Jesus Christ is gone before, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
