The Second Sunday After Christmas Day

On the Second Sunday after Christmas Day the (0) Fool, the arcana for the liturgical season of Christmas, remains alone among the upper arcana, yet not alone, for the solar light shines upon him and prevents him from erring in his way as he journeys through the Land of the Shadow of Death. The golden coin of the Ace of Pentacles may be used to represent that golden light shining in the dark places of this earthly realm, and if you choose, the Ace of Swords that commemorates the Circumcision of Christ may be displayed until Epiphany so that the two aces stand on either side of the lonesome (0) Fool.

In 2024 I added the Ace of Pentacles as the arcana for this Sunday, to support the (0) Fool, and displayed the Ace of Swords from 1st to the 5th of January.

The Collect

ALMIGHTY God, who hast poured upon us the new light of thine incarnate Word; Grant that the same light enkindled in our hearts may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Book of Common Prayer, 1928 edition
In 2021 the (0) Fool remained completely alone on this day.
