Here is the liturgical arcana for Holy Week brought to our attention with renewed emphasis on Maundy Thursday, where with jovial expansion the message of acceptance and radical openness to what is and what is beyond our control reflects back onto all the previous arcana we have experienced this week. It is about the overturning of the ego and the acceptance of a greater “will.” It is meet that we contemplate the prayer of Christ in Gethsemane on the night in which he was betrayed:
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
