According to Ryan Holiday in today’s meditation in The Daily Stoic, the Zen meditation teacher Jon Kabat-Zinn was the person who came up with the proverb, or I guess I should say “Zen koan,”
Wherever you go, there you are.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, cited by Ryan Holiday, The Daily Stoic p. 91
Elliot Adam also quotes it as a concluding comment in his blog post about the 2 of Rods.
It is also interesting to think about the 2 of Rods in the context of the spring equinox, which we are celebrating today, when the globe partakes equally of night and day.
